Valley View’s Allen commits to Urbana
Josh Allen officially signed Monday, July 6 to continue his baseball career at Urbana University.
Allen was a four-year starter at catcher for Valley View High School, where he led the team in batting (.500), home runs (6), RBIs (26) and doubles (7) as a senior.
Allen was selected to the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division first team, as well as the Division II Southwest District first team. He also received the Valley View Sportsmanship Scholarship.

Four Lakota East wrestlers to compete in Fargo
Four Lakota East High wrestlers have qualified to compete at the ASICS/Vaughan Junior & Cadet National Championships in Fargo, N.D.
The event begins next Friday, July 17, and runs through July 25. The freestyle portion of the event, which all four wrestlers are in, starts July 22.
Those Thunderhawks who qualified are junior Ryan Miller (125) for the Ohio Junior National Freestyle team, and sophomores Eric Sullivan (135) and Jacob Landers (105) and freshman Jacob Burton (171) on the cadet freestyle squad.
Sophomore Tim Bowman (215) also qualified but will not make the trip.
East head coach Jim Lehman is Ohio’s head cadet freestyle coach.

Mason’s Wills qualifies for world finals
Mason High junior-to-be Zach Wills finished fifth in his heat this morning, July 9, in the 3,000-meter race for Team USA at the 6th IAAF World Youth Championships in Sudtirol, Italy.
Wills, who ran in the second of three heats, finished with a time of 8 minutes, 25.93 seconds.
The top three from each heat and the next six fastest times advance to the finals, which are at 3:05 p.m. Italy time on Sunday, July 12. Italy is six hours ahead of us here.
