Debate on abortion sparks competing rallies
Advocates on opposing sides of the abortion debate staged competing rallies Tuesday at the Statehouse.
Supporters of House Bill 125, the “Heartbeat” bill to ban abortions once a beating heart it detected, went first about noon on the south side of the Statehouse.
About an hour later, supporters of abortion rights countered with their rally on the north side of the Statehouse as part of “Freedom of Choice” lobby day, sponsored by Planned Parenthood of Ohio Affiliates and other groups.
Both rallies drew several dozen supporters
“This is a civil rights issue, nothing more, nothing less,” Rep. Mike Henne, R-Clayton, said at the “Heartbeat” rally.
Lori Askeland of Yellow Springs attended the “Freedom of Choice” rally.
“We do not celebrate abortion but sometimes it’s a necessary choice,” said Askeland, an associate professor of English and director of the Women’s Studies Program at Wittenberg University in Springfield.
Meanwhile, House Speaker William Batchelder, R-Medina, said he still is reviewing the “Heartbeat” bill before scheduling a vote.
The bill has divided abortion opponents.
The Ohio Right to Life Society does not support the bill because questions about its constitutionality could have the “unintended consequences” of setting back the fight against abortion, said Mike Gonidakis, the society’s executive director.

Exactly on updating laws and etc though I have contacted reps and more to try. One of the problems is that major feminist groups get BILLIONS in our tax dollars to then advocate and help write laws which are strictly one way. Courts and politicians are afraid to take them on since it means the news will then crawl all over these officials with a bunch of lies. Just look at the cases of Mary Winkler and Gina Shockome for good examples of that. Same with here in Ohio and our Safe Haven laws, Most do not realize that the woman who went on Opra, wrote a book that sold well and even a TV movie about her being “raped” and then dumping the infant in a dumpster turned out to all be bull. We passed the Safe Haven law in response to the case but found out over a decade later she was pregnant from molesting her 12-year-old cousin and not raped like she claimed! So which story do you think made the news headlines all over the US and which was a minor backpage story in even the local news?

I am not sure how many men are raped by women, or how many women get a used condom and impregnate themselves. It can’t be that many, but of course it is wrong. However, it still is not a good argument to kill the defenseless human baby. The baby did nothing wrong to deserve a torturous death. Perhaps the courts need to update the laws to provide for situations like that so it is more fair. However, I don’t want anyone to be able to sign a paper to authorize death to any baby. Only God has the right to take away a life, unless the death penalty fits the crime. I’m all for the death penalty, just not for innocents, including babies. In addition, I question the intelligence of giving a woman who has raped a boy or man possession of a baby. The baby should either go to the rape victim or be put up for adoption.

“Think about it” just demonstrated my point. I am not really advocating for or against abortion though I have noted that those for it are much less likely to even address the points I make. So, instead of actually addressing them, you toss a few insults and then run, pretty typical. The very idea of allowing men to do a paper abortion didn’t cross your mind, demonstrating you failed to actually think about it. You also have not paid attention either to what has been stated. I pointed out that male victims of sexual abuse still have to pay CHILD SUPPORT to their abusers. I have no idea where you get the idea I am stating they have to pay for their abuser to get an abortion but even that would be total bull to demand they do. So, try and think about it for a bit. Abortion allows a woman to kill the child a father wants without his having any say in it at all. But then we say she can take the condom from the trash, molest a young boy or rape a guy passed out and he is STILL responsible to pay her child support for a child he did not want.

Think about it, maybe you should actually do that. Relegated to pulling out the race card, typical of a person who actually hasn’t really thought about it logically. How did society find themselves in this position? But you rather pull your “wild card” because you are too far gone to think about the whys and hows of an issue. You say I going to have to get used to paying more rfor the stupid and irresponsible. Thanks for proving my point. Where does it all stop? You say that it never will and it will just continue to get worse. My post was a generalization, as anyone with any good sense would realize, just as your post is also a genealization. Do you understand there are easy methods of birth control? My personal view on abortion was never posted. Reread and you may realize that. I don’t give a damn what one does in the privacy of their own bedroom, just don’t expect me to pay for people’s irresponsible behavior. (yes, it is stupid when easy methods of birth control are so readily available). As I said, its up to others to come up with solutions (it’s clear you have none except the race card), and again thanks for proving my point.

Progressives aren’t economically feasible to America. Remember that Twilight Zone where the librarian was put to death because his job was considered not useful and so the STATE decided his life was not contributing so they decided to put him to death? How about we try that on the progressives who are taking away America’s resources by wasting them on green projects that don’t help anyone and waste money and jobs AND community organizations that want to overthrow our government and run our economy off the deep edge? Why not? You would rather kill defenseless babies rather than evil people who hate America? No, I’m not advocating killing anyone, but think about it. You want to control the population growth by killing babies? How about we get our Federal Gov’t to do its job and secure our borders and get the illegal aliens and terrorists out of our country and off of our free benefits? Honestly, I think illegal aliens that have lived here for at least 5 years without committing crimes should be allowed to stay not as citizens but with work permits. The others should be forced to go back to their country of origin, and off of our welfare and foodstamp programs. Babies have done nothing to deserve death, and neither have the senior citizens who have contributed their lives to paying taxes. Let’s bring America back!

You want to control the population by killing babies? What have they done wrong. I say, how about we kill all progressives. Then we can live in peace. I’m kidding, although this isn’t a funny subject. But really, is one worse than the other? Think about it.

Not afraid of the truth, are ya? Hitler said the Jews weren’t people. Most of the Germans were afraid of their government and what would happen to them if they stood up to the government, so they kept quiet and let the government kill the Jews. First, they took away their possessions, then they rounded them up and gassed them to death, and put their dead bodies in mass graves. Now, some Americans want to call unborn babies not people, and kill them while they are in the mother’s womb. You can say it until you are blue in the face, but it is still murder, just like the Jews in Germany. Mom doesn’t want unborn tot? Then give the baby a chance and put the baby up for adoption. Killing the baby should NEVER be the option unless for the physical health of mom who would DIE if giving birth. How dare you or anyone use abortion as a means of birth control. You WILL answer to God, whether or not you believe in Him or not. You WILL. Burn this into your brains. You cannot say you didn’t know that unborn babies were people, and that abortion is a nice word for muder of an unborn baby. Now you know.

Don’t worry Originalthought (and I’m sure you’re not). You’ve made a valid point and as always, the nutjobs who tend to scream the loudest, yet never directly answer anything, are calling you names and being boorish. Quentin, “one can only infer” that you have a learning disability. I can only infer that you’re stating…let me see if this is it..abortion should be illegal because so many male victims of sexual abuse have to pay for their female abusers to get an abortion…huh? Thanks for adding to the discussion, really great point. Chipin’ dale, you are obviously a very angry person, most likely racist, seeing as you group all the members of a certain system (in this case, political beliefs) into one awful group and regurgitate absolute generalized garbage. Do you truly, honestly believe that ALL democrats are lazy, and ALL their children are on welfare? You’re discredited, you have nothing of value to say. You should be placed in timeout and not be allowed out to recess with the other children. By the way, what do you people think would happen if abortion is outlawed? You complain about welfare and ghetto life and supporting irresponsible people NOW? You think a move like outlawing the ability to decrease unwanted pregnancies will help the poor overpopulated crime ridden communites? Seriously, outlaw abortion, and then what? Anybody?? Please let me know what is supposed to happen next. I think you’d better get really used to paying a lot more for the “children of the lazy, stupid and irresponsible.”

Dang! The abortion supporters all ran off again! So one can only infer from how they avoid the real arguments and do insult and runs, they are FOR forcing males who are the victims of fraud and sexual assault to pay support to the female criminals. But they want equality somehow unless it means the equality takes away some of their power and special treatment.

Great rant? Let’s see some facts Originalthought to back up your claim that “What about the heartbeats of the children already here, the hundreds of thousands, in this country alone, that are abused, beaten, tortured, raped & killed EVERY YEAR?” I’m thinking you have no facts just your hatred of anything that disagrees with your liberal attitude. It’s funny to hear you say people are name calling and denigrating people when that’s exactly what you were doing in your “rant”. I know you’re right and everyone else is wrong if they don’t agree with you. Sad

Originalthought(really?)….a very unoriginal typical, nonsensical leftist post. You claim the right doesn’t care about the children. Do you mean the children of the left? The children of irresponsible parent(s)who claim, nobody has a right to tell them what to do and how to live, especially when their irresponsible lifestyle and poor choices they make have very predictable results. Your hypocritical post is a perfect example of the red herrings the left puts out. You are too ingrained in your leftest hatred and stupidity to realize you are the pot calling the kettle black. Are you saying that since the right has a certain beleif about the unborn, they are automatically responsible for the children of the lazy, stupid and irresponsible? If that’s the case are you advocating the removal of children from dysfunctional homes? Bring back orphanges? What is the answer? You have none, except to expect others come up with solutions.

Why don’t you wonderful “christians” call this perpetual mindset by it’s REAL name….right to BIRTH. What about the heartbeats of the children already here, the hundreds of thousands, in this country alone, that are abused, beaten, tortured, raped & killed EVERY YEAR? Why do we not hear Mr. Boehner, who’s tears are for “the little kids”, & the rest of the “morality party” arguing for THEM? Does this not “poll” very well? You, & you know who you are, who b!t(#, moan & complain, calling fellow citizens every name in the book except, you know, citizens & human beings, are just so very sure of yourselves & your hate, bias, prejudice etc……… that you always FAIL, in means, of consistency in message, substance of argument & importance of relevance! THAT’S why you denigrate & deteriorate back to your default position(s) of name calling & general manic & juvenile behavior. Same tired messages, same tired attitudes…just another re-run on TV land. I know..you all are just “Con Serving” youselves! Happy Days!!

Pass the heartbeat bill. Democratics always claim they are the side of the little guy. Except unborn babies get rid of them. Phonies.

Funny that they keep deleting and re-running this story and killing all the comments. Then again, when abortion supporters tell men to keep in in their pants and get snipped instead of addressing the problems with their lack of choice, being forced to support kids that are not their’s and even forced to pay in cases of rape, incest and molesting. But hey, SHE should have a choice and it is HER body. His choice is to pay or jail no matter what or have a child he wants aborted.

Dems run on this mantra…. you must help me, help me because I’m too lazy and irresponsible to help myself, and I’ll criticize you, your work ethic, your traditions, religion, anything other hating parasitical lemmings tell me to do. But (wink, wink) I won’t tell you how to live. Be sure to remember you have no right tell me how to live or expect me to ever do the right thing, but I’ll expect you to pay for every friggin’ mistake I’ll ever make in my life, and I’ll make many, some over and over again, because I have a right to demand what you work so hard for, so I don’t have to. Democrats run on other peoples money, and Republicans actually do run on jobs jobs jobs and apparently Dale thinks that’s a bad thing.

I generally detest abortion, but I really wish politicians would concentrate on more PRESSING issues in this state. We’re broke, nobody wants to open a business here, our school funding system is screwed up, etc. Please get serious about solving REAL problems. Abortion and abortion rights won’t matter when our state (and country) is bankrupt.
