Poll: Voters down on Kasich, would repeal collective bargaining overhaul

A Public Policy Polling poll released Tuesday found that if Ohio voters had it to do over, they’d pick Democrat Ted Strickland over Republican John Kasich for governor.

According to the poll, Strickland would win a re-do election, 55-40 percent. Kasich knocked incumbent Strickland out of office in November, 49-47 percent.

The poll also found that if Senate Bill 5 - legislation to limit collective bargaining rights for public workers - becomes law, that voters would back repealing it at the ballot box.

The poll found that 54 percent would vote to repeal the law, while 31 percent would vote to keep it.

Results of the poll come on the same day Kasich is to unveil his first state budget proposal.

It also comes a day after an Ohio Poll, sponsored by the University of Cincinnati, found that 40 percent of Ohio adults approved Kasich’s job performance, while 47 percent disapproved.

In the PPP poll, 54 percent of voters disapproved of Kasich’s performance, while 35 percent approved.

Also, 63 percent said public employees should have a right to collective bargaining rights for wages, benefits and working environment rules, while 29 percent said they should not.

“Voters in Ohio are feeling significant buyers’ remorse about the November election results already,” Dean Debnam, PPP president, said in a press release.

“Of course the reality is if Democrats had turned out Kasich never would have been elected. The voters who stayed home have mostly themselves to blame.”

The poll surveyed 559 Ohio voters from Thursday, March 10 to Sunday, March 13 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percent.

Paul, you are so lost and so wrong. Did you know that if you don’t believe the truth when God reveals it to you, that He’ll let you believe lies? I think that is what is happening here. Look at a map, mark in red the countries that have rebellions, and you will see that they surround Israel. People like you think that the Bible is full of fairy tales, but you can’t explain away how everything is coming to pass. Israel gathered again, that generation will see everything come to pass. Wars, rumours of wars, earthquakes in diverse places. These are just the beginning of troubles. It’s all there. And when they say, “Peace! Peace!” sudden destruction comes. There’s nothing coincidental about it. Whether or not the Muslim Brotherhood is right (they aren’t) they are trying to hurry up the coming of their 12th Imam by encouraging the rebellions. Muslim Brotherhood promises to wage war on Israel as soon as they take over power in these countries, some of them have been at peace for 30 years (like Egypt). The Bible says to overcome evil with good. It also says that when light appears, all darkness has to flee to the corners. Paul, your darkness envelopes you, and you are running from the light. As you make fun of the very thing that can save you, remember that you are a pathetic human being on the wrong side of eternity.

Hate is not a strong enough word to reflect how I feel about republicans and if you dont know why you live in a cave…or should I say your a faux noise viewer or a druggie limpbaugh listener? You can live in your world of delusion and disconnect if you choose to, thats your problem. And actually the nations and the state of Ohio’s again. People like you empower these evil men to do their corrupt and disgusting policies. Your whats wrong with the nation, you allow yourselves to be fooled hoodwinked and bamboozeled because someone wraps themselves in a flag and thumps on a bible, your fakers, not a genuine person in the lot. You regurgitate the right wing lies and misinformation like its true or a fact when its exactly the opposite, just like faux noise. You and your ilk are a reflection of the very worst the nation has to offer while being the biggest hypocrites on the planet. You sit around and cheer on war and republican spending then a democrat gets in office and then its his fault. Your not only intellectually dishonest but people like you refuse to face the facts or the end results of the failed and corrupt legislation perpatrated by the very people you support. So yeah, hate and disgust are definetly the emotions I feel when I read about kasick or anyone of the other bought and paid for low life republicans. My one hope is that the end results of their failed and corrupt legislation lands on your house and those you love and maybe then you’ll stop being a NIMBY and wake up to the republicans evil and sick agenda. (nimby=not in my back yard)

Paul: “You probably the very same people that cheered on bush’s wars, tax cuts for the top 1% etc and now you want to whine about the very deficits you helped create.” Bush’s wars? Are you talking about when Hussein was gassing his own people and we interfered with that? Wow. Perhaps you are a fan of Hitler? Because that is who Hussein was like. And um, those weren’t tax cuts for the rich. It was their money in the first place, and the Bush Tax Cuts weren’t tax cuts at all. We just didn’t INCREASE their taxes, and that’s different than CUTTING their taxes. It’s the Democratic party that has added to the deficits. The trillion dollar hc bill comes to mind first, then Obama’s promise to veto any bills that defund his hc fiasco bill (after the unions getting a waiver from it as well as over 1,000 other companies, it should be totally gutted) and any of his pet projects like Planned Parenthood (30% of their budget comes from the taxpayers!) and NPR (have you seen the undercover video of talks between NPR personnel and Muslim Brotherhood where they said they don’t need public funding?). When we should be cutting our deficit, why is our President defending tax payers funding projects that are so polarizing and politically driven by the Democratic party???? No, we shouldn’t have bailed out the banks and car companies. This is America, and if the product you are selling doesn’t work, it should fail. This administration continues to ignore the voters’ message in the last election. Let’s see how that works for the Democrats in 2012!!!!

I agree with Josie, this poll is not to be trusted and is prejudiced against anybody who opposes the left wing radical agenda: “The SEIU/Daily Kos poll will use Public Policy Polling (PPP), a Democratic firm that uses automated polling rather than live, over-the-phone survey methods.”

And by the way right wingers in denial about the poll results, hate to break it to you but national polls reveal the very same thing. Of course your in denial just like you are about the facts, otherwise you couldnt support such garbage. You probably the very same people that cheered on bush’s wars, tax cuts for the top 1% etc and now you want to whine about the very deficits you helped create. What an accurate reflection of the hypocrisy of those on the right.

Be ashamed Ohio, be ashamed you let such crook into office to do his dirty work. I have to wonder, how much and for how long does it take a person to wise up to what the republicans are really about? They dont care about jobs, they dont care about anyone that doesnt make over a million a year. Nothing this man does has anything to do with the budget and everything in the world to do with a right wing agenda. Kasich was part and parcel to the very culture of corruption that has this state and the nation in the very mess its in. If you dont know that, your a faux noise viewer or you listen to druggie limpbaugh.

I’ll bet this poll is unreliable. Kasich was elected to do the job, and the Democrats are still whining about it. Did anybody ever bother to follow up on Shore Bank in Chicago and Obama’s ties? Here’s some info from May 2010: search FF stay connected Home Blogger Index Video Podcasts Bookclub About Us Contact Us Log In RSS RSS Feed Menu David Frum The Scroll Tim Mak Noah Kristula-Green All Authors Obama’s Chicago Bank Bailout May 19th, 2010 at 5:11 pm Jeb Golinkin We all know that President Obama likes Chicago. But is a Chicago based bank getting preferential treatment? Fox Business reports that a coalition of banking giants has come together to prop up Chicago based ShoreBank, which has more than a few connections with the Obama Administration. The coalition, which includes Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, JP Morgan, GE Capital (General Electric’s finance arm) and others will put in $140 million to prop up the bank. All of the beheamoths previously listed received major government bailout assistance. Also, one of Obama’s top advisers, Valerie Jarrett served alongside ShoreBank’s director on a Chicago civic organization and President Obama has directed kudos to the bank for lending to low income communities. This may be a coincidence, but Fox Business does report that “some of the Wall Street firms that have given money have said they’ve received political pressure to contribute to the bailout of a business that under normal circumstances would have been left to fail.” If this is true, the Administration has some ’splainin to do.” I haven’t heard any updates. Wonder why DDN won’t report on this…oh yeah, I know why. BTW, I can’t blog on that Is Nuclear Energy Safe blog here…maybe that Vick guy has it fixed so that only people who agree with his liberal views can blog there!

But if you are for a person who wants to cut programs for the needy and give it to corporations so they can privatize Ohio so you sincerly out of your minds.

How low can DDN go to support their liberal agenda? This article is from “THE HILL” March 2011. The SEIU/Daily Kos poll will use Public Policy Polling (PPP), a Democratic firm that uses automated polling rather than live, over-the-phone survey methods. Did you notice that 34% of the households polled where members of the union!!!! In Ohio, the labor force is made up of only 13% of union members. Did you also notice the dispropartionate democrats to republicans. The same amount of democrats voted for Strickland in 2010 and would vote for him again. The same amount of republicans voted for Kasich in 2010 and would vote for him again. And yet, Kasich won in 2010. Leave it to DDN to to reference a left leaning, union funded poll to push their leftist agenda. And they wonder why they are losing so many subscribers?????

Money for Bob Evans to move its headquarters? Increase it. Money for public education? Decrease it. Opening Ohio’s State Parks for oil and gas drilling? Yes. Opening the “town hall” meeting to citizens who requested tickets? No. John Kasich is an embarrassment to our state. The good news is that he’ll move out within ten years. The bad news is that we’ll have to deal with him as Governor for the next three years and ten months.

Who do you supposed the DDN isn’t reporting much about the fact that the Dept. of Justice Forced Dayton to lower the standards so more black police officers could pass? Now you can get an F and pass the test! Blacks are even speaking out against it, because its simply bad for any minority. Also, I’ve heard reports that Dayton spent $600,000 to revise the test a couple years ago to make it easier for minorities to pass it. Is this Affirmative Action Gone Wild???

Information that is missing from the press release of the Public Policy Poll, is who hired them to perform the polling? Poll results without reporting the funding source should not be assumed to be gospel. This newspaper has become a shill for special interest groups attempting to manipulate public opinion.

If have already seen what the Republicans have done to this state, just look at Taft and company. Kascich is no different. Time to vote him out in his next election.

Yes, the Republicans are doing it again. They swept the election and now they think they have a mandate to do whatever they want to anyone they want. I hope you wake up before it is too late or the democrats will be in control again in 2 years.

Who on earth are they polling???? Kasich is the best guy for the current economy. Strickland was a Joke, for any economy. Kasich is for the TAXPAYER. Taxpayers have made it crystal clear they Cannot Afford any tax increases. Kasich “gets it”

This state could be building a passenger train and would have ridership by 2012. This train that Strickland supported would have created thousands of good paying jobs and those jobs could not be outsourced! This train would have eventually turned into a high speed trains!

Wow, another liberal UC poll. Does DDN have an agenda? There are a wealth of polls out there daily. Results vary from one end of the spectrum to the other. Results are skewed depending on who is asking the questions, who they are asking the questions of, and most importantly, how the question is presented, phrased and set up. DDN, this is what kind of “news” we’ve come to expect from you. Everything you print is to be taken with a grain of salt.
