Senate Republicans seek applicants to replace Husted

Ohio Senate Republicans are accepting applications for the state Senate seat now held by Republican Jon Husted of Kettering, they announced on Tuesday.

Husted was elected secretary of state on Nov. 2 and will leave the Senate for his new job next year.

The deadline for applying to fill the vacancy is close of business, Friday, Dec. 3, Senate Republicans said in a press release.

The 6th Senate District includes the western and southern and much of northern Montgomery County. To find a map of the district, click here.

Republican state Reps. Seth Morgan of Huber Heights and Peggy Lehner of Kettering are among those who have expressed interest. Dr. David Westbrock of Washington Township also has expressed interest.

Applicants will be screened by a committee of Senate Republicans, the release said.

Yo politico and other “sethians” posting, I believe the operative word in your statement about the speaker’s faith in seth is “had”…they asked him to stick around & learn something, but he just couldn’t resist trying to jumping on the next stepping stone.

Why should the people of the district settle for someone ‘appointed’? Election. Now. I can’t believe I’m reading support of a backroom ‘committee’ decision by people who do NOT LIVE IN THAT DISTRICT.

I hope they fill the position with a good, strong conservative that is ready to hit the floor running. Our country has some servious problems, some obvious and some not so obvious. This George Soros elderly man, not so sweet, has major plans for our U.S. govt. He is close to Obama and believes China has a better govt. than America. He wants freedom of speech controlled and gun rights taken away. Yes, we need representatives not afraid to look these people in the eye and stand against them!

The 6th Senate District and the State would be best served by Rep. Seth Morgan. I hope the Republican State Senators have as much faith in Rep. Morgan as the House leader had by giving Rep. Morgan a key policy position after he was elected. Rep. Morgan is a business owner and CPA. Those skills are what we need in our elected officials given the state of this economy. Please support Rep. Morgan!

DUH, If you think that Seth thinks he’s a legend, then you don’t know him. I do and have for decades. Seth has always been hard-working, honest and full of integrity. While I also know Peggy and think she’s a wonderful person, if she gets appointed then we will have to find someone to fill her spot. Seth is available and would be a good choice for the position.

What a shame Dr. Westbrock bloviates about being “appointed” after he has been schlacked in every race he’s been party too. Seth is a legend in his own mind. If he wanted to stay in politics he should have gained some experience and served in the house for 8 years. Lehner is the obvious choice for this unless Phil Plummer throws his had in the ring.
