More speakers pull out of Springboro Tea Party event

By Lawrence Budd Staff Writer

SPRINGBORO — James Traficant, the former Ohio congressman, dropped out of a Springboro Tea Party rally scheduled for Saturday, April 17, at North Park, his manager said on Friday, April 9.

Traficant, one of the event’s headliners, planned to join the rally via a live feed from his Cleveland radio show, according to George Saadi, his manager and talent agent.

Traficant, whose 17 years in Congress were curtailed by a seven-year term in federal prison for corruption, decided to withdraw due to a posting on the Springboro Tea Party’s Twitter site, Saadi said.

Earlier this week, Chris Koch, a Republican candidate for Warren County commissioner, Linda Oda, a Republican candidate for Warren County Auditor, and Robert Owens, Constitution Party of Ohio candidate for Ohio Attorney General, joined State Sen. Shannon Jones, R-Springboro, and Sen. Jon Husted, R-Kettering, a candidate for Ohio Secretary of State in withdrawing from the rally.

Like Jones, Koch, Oda and Owen said they decided to withdraw from the rally due to a posting on a Twitter site maintained by Sonny Thomas, founder of the Springboro group. The posting made derogatory and violent comments toward Hispanics.

“I have withdrawn as a speaker at the April 17th Tax Day Rally. Racially insensitive remarks cannot be tolerated,” Koch said in an email on Thursday, April 8.

In a press release, Owens said, “I fully support the Tea Party movement and the great patriots and leaders who want to restore our American system, but we must remember that there are legal and Constitutional ways to resolve national and state problems including illegal immigration. Regrettably, the organizer’s comment was totally out of bounds.”

Nice try scoobydo: The most uses of the fillibuster was by the 110th Congress. That was under George W. Bush, and both houses were controlled by Democrats. Never let facts get in the way of a good story.

scoobydo, just about every National poll out there right now shows that the Party of “NO” is the only one doing the will of the American people right now. There wasn’t a single poll that showed a majority of Americans were in favor ot the Health Care Reforms “As Written”. It passed anyway.

World View, your’re full of turds. Obama and HIS administration are hated around the World. A cursory search of the Internet will prove that to you. You people think everything you post is Gospel. That’s laughable. Racism is despaicable, and it does exist among whites, blacks , hispanics, and just about everyone else, but that is not what the Tea Party is about. There has been a $100,000.00 dollar reward offered for PROOF that the Tea Party memebers have propagated racism. No one has claimed the prize! Why? I think it’s because those that are guilty will be proven to be implants who are making up lies to make sure the gravy train doesn’t get derailed.

Jay said The DEMNO’S, isn’t that funny. Not sure just how Rush or Beck tied that in, but with the magic chalkboard, no facts needed. If you’re really looking for the party of NO or the newer party of H#LL NO, check out the Grand Obstructionist Party. They vote no on EVERYTHING. Right after they filibuster. Republicans have voted together to block Democrats’ attempts to pass legislation more often than any Congress in history. On December 18, Republicans broke the modern-day record for the most filibusters in history, according to Campaign for America’s Future. Boehner has one yea vote in this year, his grade for voting for middleclass is ‘F’ from 03-08. Since he has been in the house since 91, would he not be declared the incumbent that the teapots want to get rid of?

I exchange e-mail with friends living in Europe and other places I have visited and the general impression people overseas have from their own media is that so that many Americans are loud, crazy, hate-filled racists. They point out that the nastiest of the nastiness began when Obama became a serious contender for the Presidency. And my European friends are amazed at the way the terms “socialism, communism, and Marxism” are thrown around so freely and inaccurately in the US. The teabaggers are doing their best to perpetuate the image of the Ugly American.

People still have a right to voice their opinions..stupid or not. For all of you bashing the TEA Partiers, have you ever been to an event? The ones I have been to have recent LEGAL immigrants to this country and they have some of the most moving speeches of where they see this country headed because they have experienced it first hand in their native country. The TEA Party movement has people from all parties, all ethnicities, and you won’t find a more civil group. Goodness, they leave not one piece of trash behind for someone else to pick up. There is no screaming at each other and it is actually a fun time. The TEA Party is about limiting the size of government, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and following the Constitution as the founders of this great country meant it to be. This country of ours belongs to the People, not the politicians in Washington DC. These politicians are enslaving us. There is no talk of parties, only about people who represents those ideals. All you who seem to be so knowledgeable about the TEA Party because you watch CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC,CNN would find that you could better educate yourselves by attending a rally. The unfortunate comments by one person does not represent this movement.

More news on Sonny Thomas——On April 1, Thomas regained visitation rights to the son he lost as a result of a domestic civil protection order filed by the boy’s mother in December 2009, court records show. A magistrate in Warren County Common Pleas Court stopped Thomas’ contact with Turner and their son, after she said the boy returned from visits with Thomas with bruises, according to court records.

re: The Tea Partiers believe in limited govt, fiscal responsibility, and Free markets. YEAH RIGHT. just like the Republicans have been saying for decades while they really just wanted tax breaks for the wealthiest and while they decimated our economy giving us the Great Republican Recession. It has been evident that this teapot group is full of racist, bigoted, and just plain or sore losers. Looks like now the monster is coming out of the bag. Prime example of the teapot group. Listen to any of their speakers, at their rally’s, read their signs, this is a group of angry, majority white bigoted people that are pissed that a Democrat black man is in their White House. Hard to tell which they hate worse. You lost the election by a ton, get over it.

Tea Partiers = Taxpayers. Most hard-working Americans can’t afford higher taxes. Half the country Don’t even pay federal taxes., and Obama’s entitlement programs/welfare programs will raise our taxes and our insurance premiums. Tea Partiers are for Fiscal Responsibility, Less Government, less Taxes.

I am not a militiaman [despite my NG service] or a Tea Party person. However, this may amaze or even scare a lot of perpetual professional politicians out there everywhere: Tea Party people do not care if you, or who, shows up or endorses them or their opinions! Yes, politicians perform or whine while wanting face time, wanting ever more fame while being ashamed of the Tea Party name, thinking that they and their friends may once again trick the hicks whom they have made sick.

whome, that was it? THAT statement is what all the fuss is about? I’ve heard the word “gringo” (and WORSE) thrown about PLENTY by pro-illegal alien activists. A 1998 MEChA youth conference at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) featured a printed program that introduced the school as “Cal Poly State Jewniversity”. The program also referred to New York as “Jew York”. - Wikipedia “You old white people, it is your duty to die. Through love of having children, we are going to take over.” — Augustin Cebada, Brown Berets On February 15, 1998, the U.S. and Mexican soccer teams met at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The crowd was overwhelmingly pro-Mexican even though most lived in this country. They booed during the National Anthem and U.S. flags were held upside down. As the match progressed, supporters of the U.S. team were insulted, pelted with projectiles, punched and spat upon. Beer and trash were thrown at the U.S. players before and after the match. The coach of the U.S. team, Steve Sampson said, “This was the most painful experience I have ever had in this profession.” “Over the last two decades, there has been evidence of growing hostility from Hispanics toward African Americans. Some of this hostility is the result of conflicts, or perceived conflicts, over politically controlled resources in cities and states. But as Tanya K. Hernandez, a professor of law at George Washington, has argued recently, it may also be a legacy of an older Latin American prejudice against blacks that has been transplanted to this country.” And you’re surprised that Americans are finally fed up with that kind of arrogance - enough that it invokes such a response? Time for EVERYONE to grow a thicker skin.

The Springboro Tea Party has, to the best of my knowledge, has never focused upon the core principles of the Tea Party movement- fiscal responsibility, limited government, free markets, and the Constitution. They are not affiliated in any way with either the Dayton or Cincinnati Tea Party organizations. They are a stand alone entity that seems to focus mostly upon conspiracy theories. They are not a standard tea party organization by any stretch of the imagination.

Thomas doesn’t represent the Teabagger Movement? On the contrary, I think he is a prime example of the bigotry, hatred, and general stupidity of this movement. It’s going to backfire - further dividing the republicans. Palin, Bachmann, Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity - it amazes me that people actually buy the garbage these people spew!? When will people start standing up for intelligence, respect, civil discourse, and humility? The Tea Baggers will destroy the republican party and it’s candidates - just give them time. Agree with Philman - Thomas needs to step aside. He doesn’t represent the Tea Party movement. As for Boehner, I would prefer one of the newer faces such as Cantor or Ryan.
