Candidate for AG hires man with expunged record

Delaware County Prosecutor David Yost, a Republican running for attorney general, hired political consultant Matt Borges to help with the campaign.

In 2004, Borges, who had been State Treasurer Joe Deters’ chief of staff, pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of improper use of a public office, according to media accounts at the time.

The case has since been expunged and the record sealed, Borges said on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Borges said he and Yost have been friends for 20 years.

“We did have a long conversation about it. Like I said, he’s known me for a long time,” Borges said. “I think he was comfortable and confident in my abilities.”

Borges also worked on the 2008 John McCain campaign for president.

I find it distasteful that Yost, someone who has championed the cause of hounding and harassing decades old sex offenders by encouraging Delaware’s townships to enact ordnances that actually increase risks to the township’s children - has now hired someone with a criminal record. Yost didn’t seem to be concerned about putting his foot on the necks of former offenders that have committed no new crime - but hires in someone with a conviction of improperly using a public office OF TRUST? Oh my.

Huge difference with being accused of a crime and being convicted of a crime. It seems some posters choose to forget that.

Delaware County Prosecutor hires a convicted political criminal to work on his campaign for state AG. What, does Yost need help in figuring out how to juice contributions from vendors - Yost and Commissioner O’Brien got a contribution from Paykoff and by Paykoff got a contract – what’s so hard to figure out about that. It is just a little bit creepy when you think about this,“Borges said he and Yost have been friends for 20 years” Let’s see, 20 years ago (1988) Borges was 17. What was Yost doing when he was in his 30’s hanging around teenage boys in 1988? Are they BFF? Wasn’t Yost working for the drug-filled, baby-sitter oriented administration of the Columbus mayor around then. Or maybe he was in law school. Very weird.

The point of this story is?????? It must be that a republican is committing some kind of nefarious act? In 2004, Borges, who had been State Treasurer Joe Deters’ chief of staff, pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of improper use of a public office, according to media accounts at the time. What did he do? You had the “media accounts at the time” why did you not report the story of what brought about the charges? The reason for that is simple. The reason is that nothing happened and he was guilty of nothing. It is your goal to cast aspersions on any Republican and that cannot be done if you tell the whole story. Mat heck the democratic Montgomery County prosecutor violates the law every day but that is not reported. Mat heck refuses to prosecute gun toting drug dealing felonious assault committing felons every day but this is not reported. Mat heck gives community control on drug and gun charges to repeatedly convicted felon’s everyday only to have them murder an innocent person when they should have been in prison. You at the DDN are at the court records site every day but you refuse to report the facts that I have stated. Sources close to the inner circle of mat heck have confirmed that he personally called the DDN and had all posts on any local crime and court stories eliminated. Report that!!!I have been using a copy and paste from court records to expose the fact that mat heck is directly responsible for most of the murders and felonious assaults that occur in this town. Mat heck is demanding that the DDN stop me. Mat heck had these repeat offenders and gave them community control so they could continue the cycle of violence. In order to save any shred of integrity the DDN should stop reporting that some republican somewhere may or may not have broken the law. Report the truth about local democrats or at least let me do it. The public has a right to know the truth. Stop reporting only what the DDN wants the public to know.

Good for him! Why should people who have turned their lives around continue to bare the brunt of past mistakes?
