Cavemen to greet lawmakers at energy forum

When House Minority Leader John Boehner and four other Republican lawmakers convene an energy summit in Columbus tomorrow, they’ll be greeted by protestors dressed as cavemen.

No, it’s not the guys from that series of Geico commercials. Instead, it’ll be a handful of protestors irritated that the lawmakers, which will include Rep. Steve Austria, R-Beavercreek, Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green, Pat Tiberi, R-Columbus and Jean Schmidt, R-Loveland, opposed climate change legislation that passed the House earlier this summer.

The group, a coalition called Bring Ohio Back that includes the Audubon Society and the National Wildlife Federation in Ohio, is calling the group of five congressmen the “Stone Age 5.” Check out the website they’ve put up to bash the group: www.thestoneagers.com

The group is also making light of Boehner referring to the climate change bill as a “pile of sh—.”

A Boehner spokesman said Boehner and other Republicans support an alternative that they feel will be better for Ohio business. They said the bill the House passed would “cripple Ohio manufacturing and farmers, destroy jobs and raise energy prices for families and small businesses./” \

Dressing up as cavemen was appropriate, as that is the level of technology they would have us devolve to in order to reach their mythical enviormental nirvana.

I think that the activists dressed up as cavemen to point out that Boehner and the other Republicans (and Democrats) who voted against the American Clean Energy and Security Act were voting to keep us addicted to the dirty energies of the past instead of moving our country forward to the clean energies of the future. Moving to clean energy sources will reduce our dependence on foreign oil, which means that we will be giving less money to foreign dictators. It will also create jobs as we build things like wind turbines.

These people obviously did not read the house cap and trade bill or they would realize that it will not help their cause. That bill will hurt farming. Most of us need to eat maybe these cavemen don’t. I guess these cavemen would prefer that we all live in caves. I thank these reps for not voting for the cap and trade bill even though they could not stop it.

Did the Flintstones show up for Sen. Brown’s Healthcare meeting to show their displeasure on how the BO and his Cabinet Sec. Salazar do not care about the health of the environment? Since the gray wolf was reintroduced into Yellowstone Park, they have helped to restore the natural balance to the ecosystem. Now BO and Sec, Salazar will do nothing to block any wolf slaughtering plans by the anti-wolf states that will take over wolf management from the federal government. You protesters will be at the wrong meeting.

I’m glad they did oppose the “climate change” legislation… Keep up the good work, GOP! It’s why I voted for you guys!

Does Fred Flintstone and his friends know that Pres. Nixon passed the Endangered Species Act and was very pro environment. Yes, a GOP. As a member of the Wilderness Society myself, I have given money to the cause. And recently have given extra money because BO’s Secretary of the Interior, Salazar, wants to get rid of the wolves in Yellowstone Park. Sec. Salazar should know better because he was Senator from Colorado. At least the Ohio Congress members are looking for jobs for our citizens. What is Sec. Salazar’s excuse?

About time somebody called them Their alternative approach is to say no to everything and keep collecting paychecks from oil and coal companies.

Interesting that these environmental wackos would choose caveman outfits because essentially that is where they want to take us back to.
