Slots’ proposal doesn’t stop plan for casinos

Backers of a ballot issue to put casinos in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo and Columbus aren’t deterred by Gov. Ted Strickland’s recommendation that the legislature OK video slot machines for Ohio racetracks.

Bob Tenenbaum, spokesman for the casino backers, said so Friday, June 19 in an e-mail, just hours after Strickland’s press conference.

” We are in the final stages of gathering petition signatures and will be filing our petitions prior to the July 1 deadline,” Tenenbaum said. They must file petitions with signatures from 402,275 registered voters by the deadline to qualify for the November ballot.

1)I was polled about slots in racetracks which I said yes to as long as there no plans like I hear about in Warren County about after the slots are installed that they’re going to move the track. 2)I’ve said no to independent casios every ballot year is was put and will continue to do so. Granted it would give me a job but there would have to be certain gurantees and retrictions before I can support it

Well i hope your legislation passes. Hell the only reason the governor is flip flopping is because he knows that you might have a chance of getting your passed and he thinks by allowing his proposal it might take the issue off of the front burner.
