Add this one to the “kids say the darndest things” file

After my 4-year-old daughter Sophie spilled her fourth drink of the day all over the kitchen floor, I was really on the verge of losing my patience.

My house was a disaster to begin with, much less having to re-mop a sticky floor in addition to everything else on my ever-growing chore list for the day. Plus, she’s 4 and quite capable of drinking out of a big-girl cup.

“Sophie, you have to be more careful with your drinks,” I said while soaking up the milk with a paper towel. “Do you spill as many drinks at preschool as you do at home?”

“No,” she responded. “It’s OK to spill at home. Mommies like to clean up messes.”

Hey moms, share some of the funny things your kids say — either the things that make you immediately laugh out loud or the things you know you shouldn’t laugh at, but just can’t help it sometimes.

Local moms at 937moms.com and 513moms.com share some of their stories on the message boards. You’ll get a good laugh out of some of these.

Here’s another one: At his little buddy’s birthday party where the creative mom had made a cute-as-a-button Thomas the Tank Engine cake out of cupcakes, my 3-year-old took a bite and declared, “This tastes like plastic!” I was horrified, but gracious gal just laughed it off!
