UFC’s Quinton Jackson lands B. A. Baracus role in “The A-Team” remake

One of the UFC’s biggest fights of 2009 has been postponed because former light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has landed the role of B. A. Baracus in a film remake of “The A-Team.”

The A-Team” aired in the 1980s, and Jackson’s role was first popularized by Mr. T.

Jackson recently served as a coach on the 10th season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” the UFC’s popular reality-show competition that debuts Sept. 16 on Spike TV. Fellow ex-champ Rashad Evans served as a rival coach, but the traditional (and already heavily hyped) coach vs. coach fight is now on hold.

That fight was expected to headline UFC 107 on Dec. 12, when the UFC heads to Jackson’s hometown of Memphis, Tenn. The event was essentially tailor-made for the fighter, and at a recent UFC event, UFC president Dana White didn’t hold back when asked about Jackson’s side gig.

“I hate it with a [expletive] passion,” White said when asked about UFC fighters who take movie roles. “‘You’re a fighter; you’re not a movie star.’ It’s so [expletive] funny because fighters want to be movie stars, and movie stars want to act like they’re fighters. ‘Get a [expletive] grip. You’re a fighter, and you’re a [expletive] movie star. Alright?’”

UFC 107 is now headlined by a UFC lightweight title fight between champion B.J. Penn and challenger Diego Sanchez.

“The A-Team,” which also stars Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper, is slated for a June 2010 release.

I hope they don’t ruin the A-team like they have so many classic tv shows. But they better have some killer van stunts or I give up on remakes.
