Nominations sought for student award
In case you didn’t catch this online yesterday…
Nominations are being sought to honor four high school students from Franklin and Carlisle for their selfless acts in the community.
Citizens for Youth, a local service club, will honor four teens — a boy and a girl each from the Carlisle and Franklin school districts — as Student Volunteers of the Year . Students who live in those districts but attend private or parochial schools are also eligible.
“A lot of organizations give awards based on scholarship or extracurricular activities,” said Janette Alexander, the club’s president. “We started this award in 2008 to honor some young men and women strictly for their service to others since we are a service club ourself,” she said.
Application forms will be distributed to high schools, churches and several local agencies, but anyone is allowed to nominate a student.
Forms are available also by calling Dan Darragh at (937) 746-1914, or e-mailing ddarragh@sbcglobal.net.
The deadline for nominations is April 15.
