Ban on texting?
Madison school board members said during their meeting Monday they would support a ban on texting between students and staff.
“I don’t see any reason at all why a teacher or coach should be texting a student,” said board Vice President Tim Young. “To me, it’s kind of under the radar. I would like to see us abolish texting.”
Acting Superintendent and High School Principal Curtis Philpot said he has something urging teachers to use caution on the high school teacher handbook, and cautioned the board to think about the technology.
“I don’t want to be blind to technology,” he said. “But I recognize there needs to be systems in place.”
Text messaging is definitely the main way students communicate, but should it be allowed between teachers, coaches and students? What do you think?
