I had the chance to check out a dress rehearsal this week and I thought the set and the cast were great, especially Scout the Dog, who will be appearing in the production as himself.

You can read all about it in Thursday’s newspaper, but here are some behind the scenes details…

I’m told Madison put on this production 10 years ago, and co-director Andrew Morris was on the cast when it was performed at the old high school.

Morris spoke the last line performed on the stage of the old high school as Drummond in “Inherit the Wind” and the first line performed on the stage of the theater in the new school as the Stage Manager in “Our Town.”

Co-director Andy Tyree tech director Ryan Spears are also Madison alumni and former members of the Thespian troupe.

Tyree’s family was involved in Madison theater when he was in high school. His mother Lynn was president of MASK (drama boosters), his father built sets, and he and his sister both appeared in numerous shows. Lynn Tyree eventually appeared on stage as a cast member in a summer community show in 2002.

Ryan Spears worked on the tech crew for many productions throughout high school, but finally appeared on stage as Will Parker in “Oklahoma!” his senior year.
