Elvis in the building
Girls shrieks filled the room. Applause came from everyone.
And chants of young voices grew: “Elvis. Elvis. Elvis.”
It wasn’t the 1950s, but actually about 1 p.m. Monday when Schenck Elementary School students got a performance from Elvis — aka their principal, Tim Crowe.
The show was a reward for exceeding their reading goal by more than 860 pages last week during Right to Read Week.
Dressed in a white suit with gold jewels, Crowe performed songs for the very excited kids Monday afternoon. Crowe’s son, 11-year-old Evan, also put on Elvis sun glasses and scarfs to perform a song.
“I think he does a pretty good job,” Evan said of his dad’s impersonation of Elvis. “I think he has some good moves, maybe not as good as mine.”
The video here is a song from his afternoon show for the school’s older children.
