Middletown, Madison treasurers are two finalists
I just got this story from my fellow education reporter Ryan Cook in Lebanon:
The next Lebanon schools treasurer will come from Butler County.
After interviewing three candidates Wednesday, the school board decided to bring back Madison Local’s treasurer, Mark A. Zimov, and Eric Sotzing, the treasurer for Middletown City Schools.
Zimov and Sotzig will be interviewed again by the board on Saturday and given a written report to complete by Monday, when it will be reviewed by the board, according to Lebanon Supt. Mark North.
The board also interviewed Gina Roop, the treasurer for Berne Union Local Schools.
Former Lebanon Treasurer Randy Bertram left to take the same position with Northwest Local Schools in Cincinnati. In 2006, he replaced Cary Furniss, who stayed for only one year after taking over for Treasurer Mary Beth Kemmer. She resigned after a $4.9 million deficit was discovered. Bertram has been pulling double-duty, acting as Lebanon’s interim treasurer since Aug. 1.
