Carlisle to consider levy

Carlisle Board of Education members are hoping the community will turn out to a special meeting at 6 p.m. July 14 to discuss a possible future levy attempt.

The board could make a decision that night on whether to move forward with placing a levy on the November ballot.

Carlisle has already made $919,000 in cuts this year to avoid a deficit. They will be back in black with about $5,500 for the next two years, before entering into deficit spending of more than $700,000.

Treasurer Jerry Ellender said the levy attempt would likely be an emergency property tax levy. The district’s current income tax levy is expected to remain flat next year.
