Expect delays along University Boulevard in the coming weeks
Construction work has started along University Boulevard, with two companies in the midst of road and sewer improvements to the thoroughfare.
Beginning today, April 20, Barrett Paving Materials Inc. is undertaking roadway work on University Boulevard between Reinartz and Breiel boulevards. The first phase of the project will focus on the intersection of University Boulevard and Nelbar Street/Shafor Street, with multiple lane closures planned.
Work includes replacing the concrete median, curbs, gutters and curb ramps, asphalt resurfacing and restriping and installing traffic signal upgrades.
Storm sewer improvements are also underway to University Boulevard between Richardson and Aberdeen drives. C.G. Construction and Utilities, Inc. will be installing a new storm sewer main, manholes and catch basins. City representatives estimate the project will be completed in mid-May, weather permitting.
Traffic will be maintained throughout both projects, though city officials say to expect delays due to lane closures.
