Shopper’s plan to sell meat from grocer is foiled

VANDALIA Dec. 9 Police were called to Kroger, 780 Northwoods Blvd., on an attempted theft. The subject placed numerous packages of meat into a cart and then proceeded to push it past the checkout lanes and out of the store. He was detained by security guards and taken to the office to await the police. The cost of the meat totaled $133.23. The subject advised that he planned to sell the stolen meat for cash so he could pay bills and child support. He was taken to jail.
