Thirst, with a twist of honesty, lands man in jail

VANDALIA Sept. 2 An officer responded to Speedway, 830 E. National Road, after a male in the store drank a beer he couldn’t pay for.

The subject was standing at the counter and an open beer can was atop it.

The officer asked what was going on.

The subject replied, “I’m taking a load off.”

He was arrested on a charge of petty theft and placed in the cruiser.

The subject mentioned to the officer that he’d been drinking earlier and went into Speedway, grabbed the beer and drank it at the counter. He also said he didn’t have the money to pay for it and wanted to turn himself in.

The subject was taken to jail.
