Mailman+dog=summons for homeowner

ENGLEWOOD April 27 Police were called to the 4000 block of Dartford Road after a mail carrier crossed paths with a dog. The mail carrier advised that he was delivering mail to a house where the resident was working in the yard and his dog was leashed. The dog was pulling on the leash and lunging at the complainant, who told the resident he didn’t feel safe with the dog outside. He handed the resident his mail. His wife then exited the house and asked, “Aren’t you a mailman?” The mail carrier crossed the street and told the resident and his wife that another mail carrier was bit the previous week by the dog and isn’t able to carry mail. The resident then said, “Well, it wasn’t you!” The dog then broke off the leash and ran across the street toward the mail carrier. He backed up and fell, scraping his fingers and hurting his bottom. The mail spilled from his bag. The dog lunged at him while he was down and he kicked at it to keep it away until the resident grabbed it and took it inside. The mail carrier gathered up the mail and reported the incident to his supervisor. The resident’s wife told the officer the dog was her son’s but he had to move for a job. She also said it would never hurt anyone but likes to jump on people to play. The dog did jump on the officer but calmed down. The wife was issued a summons for animal restraint.

Instead of carrying mace for your protection use a darn gun; Any dog that bites should be euthanized;
