Final: Miami 82, Evansville 58

Julian Mavunga recorded his third double-double in the last four games, scoring a career-high 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to lead the Miami RedHawks to an 82-58 victory over Evansville in their home opener at Millett Hall.

Rodney Haddix II added 14 points for the RedHawks (2-4) and Nick Winbush scored 11. Kenny Hayes and freshman Orlando Williams, making his first start, each had nine points.

Miami pulling away from Evansville

The Miami men’s basketball team has opened a 23-point lead on the Evansville Purple Aces, 66-43, with 7:42 left in the first half today at Millett Hall.

Julian Mavunga leads the RedHawks with 14 points and nine rebounds. Rodney Haddix has 12 points and Nick Winbush 11.

Miami leads 42-27 at half

The Miami RedHawks hold a 42-27 halftime lead over the Evansville Purple Aces today at Millett Hall.

The RedHawks, playing their home opener, are led by Julian Mavunga (8 points, 4 rebounds), Nick Winbush (8 points) and freshman Orlando Williams (7 points), who is making his first start.

Miami is shooting 51.5 percent from the floor, but is only 3-of-12 from 3-point range. Evansville, which has trailed by as many as 17, is shooting 45.5 percent from the field but has taken only one 3-pointer, and missed it.

Miami men take 22-14 lead over Evansville

The Miami RedHawks lead the Evansville Purple aces 22-14 with 8:02 left in the first half today at Millett Hall.

Freshman guard Orlando Williams made his first start for Miami (1-4), which is playing its home opener.
