Haywood to recruit more protection for Dysert
By Pete Conrad
Miami University’s quarterback Zac Dysert has some pretty gaudy statistics, but one that doesn’t please head coach Michael Haywood is the number of times the redshirt freshman has been sacked: 45.
“We’re going to make some changes in our personnel,” Haywood said. “We’re going to recruit some more offensive linemen … We can’t allow the quarterback to be sacked like he’s been getting sacked.”
Although Ben Roethlisberger was sacked 39 times during his redshirt freshman season at Miami, he went on to become probably the greatest passer in Mid-American Conference history.
“I won’t compare Zac with Ben,” Haywood said, “but I think Zac has a bright future ahead … He’s coached by a great quarterbacks coach (Morris Watts).”
