HOCKEY: First Period score

Despite a late flurry by the host Miami RedHawks, neither team was able to score in the first period of tonight’s game.

Miami outshot Ferris State 4-0 in the final four minutes of play, but Bulldog goalie Taylor Nelson was able to turn each shot away.

Miami leads in shots on goal for the period by a margin of 11-8.

Right now, the world-ranked Miami University Senior Synchronized Skating Team is performing their short program on the Cady Arena ice.

I never get the opportunity to see figure skating, so I really enjoyed that performance. Very talented athletes, those RedHawks. Nice job.

The second period is set to get under way in 10 minutes. After the way the RedHawks picked up their attack of the Ferris State goal late in the first period, it looks like they may have figured out a chink in the Bulldogs’ defense.

We’ll find out in about 9 minutes.
