Miami goalie picks up national award

Miami sophomore goaltender Cody Reichard was named national player of the week earlier today by Inside College Hockey.

Reichard, who was named CCHA Goaltender of the Week on Monday, made 47 of 49 stops in a weekend series sweep at then-No. 4 Michigan this past weekend.

Top-ranked Miami scored 3-1 and 5-1 wins, its first-ever sweep in Ann Arbor and the first time the Wolverines have been swept at home since Oct. 26-27, 2001 — a span of 45 series.

Reichard and the RedHawks (8-1-1) host Ferris State Friday (7:35 p.m.) and Saturday (7:05 p.m.) at Steve Cady Arena.
