Continue the party after the fireworks

Happy Fourth Weekend! It’s our country’s birthday, and celebrations abound. Here are some best bets for a place to grab a bite and beer before or after some of the area’s biggest fireworks displays.

Huber Heights

Fireworks: 10 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at Thomas A. Cloud Memorial Park

Best bet: Paradise Key Cafe, 3243 Needmore Road, Dayton

What’s up: Enjoy a drink in the fresh air of the tropical-themed patio. They’ll be open until 1 a.m.

Dayton

Fireworks: 10 p.m., Sunday, July 3, at Riverscape Metropark

Best bet: Southern Belle, 134 North Patterson Blvd., Dayton

What’s up: Open on Sundays until 2:30 a.m., this Dayton institution is just a short walk from RiverScape and the ballpark, and has a wide selection of craft beers.

Vandalia Fireworks: 10 p.m., Sunday, July 3, at the Vandalia Sports Complex on Stonequarry Road

Best Bet: Little York Pizza and Tavern, 4120 Little York Road.

What’s up: They’re open late on Sundays with a DJ and, of course, great pizza.

Kettering

Fireworks: 9:45 p.m., Monday, July 4, at Delco Park

Best bets: Delco Park is just a hop, skip and a jump from The Greene, or head up Wilmington Pike to Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers, where it’s Margarita Monday ($2.50 mini-margaritas)

Beavercreek

Fireworks: 10 p.m., Monday, July 4, at Rotary Park, 2260 Dayton Xenia Road.

Best bet: Marion’s Piazza, 1320 N. Fairfield Road

What’s up: They are only open until 11 p.m., so grab a pizza to go and eat while you watch the fireworks.

Englewood

Fireworks: 10 p.m. Monday, July 4, at Centennial Park on Union Boulevard

Best bet: TJ Chumps, 559 S. Main St., Englewood

What’s up: Monday is .39 cent wing night and pitchers of beer are only $6. Plus enjoy the summer air and scan the sky for fireworks on the patio.

Tipp City

Fireworks: Dusk, Monday, July 4, at City Park on Parkwood Drive

Best bet: Hinders, 902 West Main St., Tipp City

What’s up: This sports bar has lots of great qualities, but most fans just want to talk about the wings, which always place high in Active Dayton’s annual Best of Dayton poll.

Fairborn

Fireworks: 10 p.m., Monday, July 4, at Community Park, 691 E. Dayton Yellow Springs Road, Fairborn

Best bet: Tickets Pub and Eatery, 7 W. Main St., Fairborn

What’s up: Their kitchen is open late so you can grab a bite, plus ice cream to cool off.
