Take your party outdoors this weekend
It’s officially summer, and many of this week’s bar best bets are taking the entertainment outdoors.
The Downtown Dayton Partnership and Five Rivers MetroParks have teamed up to present the First Friday @ 5 summer concert series in connection with Downtown Dayton’s free monthly art hop. Concerts will be held at the RiverScape MetroPark Pavilion from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on First Friday events in June, August and September. The 2011 Cityfolk Festival will be held at RiverScape on the July First Friday.
Concessions and beer will be sold from 5 to 7 p.m. The concerts will wrap up in plenty of time for participants to head to the galleries and other arts venues taking part in the First Friday art hop. The first concert features local band Vanity Theft.

Yep, it’s that time of year again. Zombies will once again wander the Oregon Historic District. They’ll be drooling and searching for brains as usual, but mostly they’ll be encouraging humans to donate canned goods to their food drive. Donations can be dropped off at Club Vex all evening.
Rumor has it that there is even going to be a zombie wedding in the midst of the chaos this year.
The pre-party and after-party will both be at Club Vex, with Foy’s providing makeup for those who want to get zombified by special effects artists from Universal Studios. The after-party will be all about zombie dancing with DJ Kris, Matt Freeman, Infidel-icious and Funker Decay.
Where: Club Vex, 101 S. St. Clair St., Dayton. Zombies will meet up at the Omega Music parking lot in the Oregon District.
When: Friday, June 3. Pre-party from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., walk starts at 11 p.m., after-party convenes when the walk is done.
The bite: Pre-party and walk are free and the after-party is free with a pre-party wristband. If you just want to after-party, cover charge is $5 for 21 and over and $7 for 18-20, but Zombies get a $2 discount. Canned food donations also appreciated.
