Fundraiser hopes to help bar damaged in fire

Blind Bob’s and several local bands are teaming up to raise funds for employees of the Oregon District’s Tumbleweed Connection (454 E. Fifth St.). The bar was badly damaged in a two-alarm fire on the evening of Feb. 19 that left employees without jobs and owner Jim Atkinson with a mess to clean up.

The “twelve hour music concert” will be held Sunday, April 19 from noon until midnight at Blind Bob’s. The show billing itself as “Rock ‘n Roll for the Tumbleweed to Roll Back” will feature live local bands donating their time and talent. Bands include The Doug Hart Band, Tim Arnold, Bronze Application, Bill Leonard Band, Shape Shifters and others.

In addition to the live entertainment, organizers report that there will be 50/50’s every 3 hours, CD’s, Restaurant Gift Certificates and giveaways auctioned off throughout the day. A donation of $5 will be asked at the door. For more information visit www.blindbobs.com or call (937) 938-6405.
