Hawthorne Heights to continue playing

MTV.com has posted a video interview with the band and wife of guitarist Casey Calvert in which the band says it will continue playing, somehow keeping Casey’s parts in the music and that he will remain a part of the band. They don’t plan on replacing him because as they put it, “he was irreplaceable.” Band members said that Calvert’s mother insisted the band keep going, saying it’s what Casey would have wanted.

Band member Eron Bucciarelli talks about finding Casey in his bunk unresponsive, cold and stiff, saying that although no time of death has been released yet, that based on the body it had happened sometime early in the morning. The band goes on to talk about shooting video footage of Casey the night before he went to bed, how funny and personable he was and how his trademark scream came about.

A heart wrenching moment in the interview comes when Calvert’s wife Ashley recounts being handed his jacket saying, “It was Casey’s smell and I just realized, I’ll never have that smell again.”

Band member Matt Ridenour showed off a new tattoo he got on his right leg in honor of Casey of his favorite meal - a grilled cheese and a Doctor Pepper - with 9:30 (the 9:30 Club was the club in Washington that the band was set to play when Calvert was found) along with Casey’s name. The tattoo was done in they style of an artist - Gary Basement - that Casey liked. Other band members say they plan to also get a tattoo in honor of him.

If you are a fan of the band you’ll definitely want to be sure to check the interview out. Have you seen any good tributes or have any stories to share?
