Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!

Today is the 38th annual celebration of the planet we call home, and a day to step back and think about things we can do to preserve and restore our natural resources…

So that’s the official line on Earth Day, but I want to know: what do YOU think about Earth Day?

Is it a time to reflect on accomplishments?

A time to call for more action?

Or something in-between?

Send a post, let us know, then go outside and do something good for the planet.

IKEA invests in green product research

A colleague forwarded me this link to a CNET news story on a $77 million R&D investment in green tech by home goods giant IKEA.

Read the article. It’s interesting, and it brings up an interesting point:

There’s a mention about half way through about the effect Wal-Mart had on shoppers’ tendencies when it started touting green initiatives last year. That makes me curious about the impact big store chains have - and could have - on the shopping public’s environmental awareness.

So what do you think? Can IKEA and Wal-Mart make the world a greener place? Do you think we’ll ever see Swedish solar panels (with funny sounding names, of course) for sale at IKEA West Chester? If so, how would you put them to use?
