Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!

Today is the 38th annual celebration of the planet we call home, and a day to step back and think about things we can do to preserve and restore our natural resources…

So that’s the official line on Earth Day, but I want to know: what do YOU think about Earth Day?

Is it a time to reflect on accomplishments?

A time to call for more action?

Or something in-between?

Send a post, let us know, then go outside and do something good for the planet.

The President talks global warming

Now that everyone has had some time to digest it, I was curious to find out what people thought about yesterday’s presidential speech on greenhouse gas emissions.

If you missed the speech or want to drill down through all the media hype, here’s a link to the speech transcript.

So what did you think? Good? Bad? Somewhere in between?

I’m keeping my thoughts to myself, since this is your forum. Fire away.

Pure and simple, it was a joke. He called for a “national goal” to halt the growth of U.S. carbon emissions by 2025. This would basically allow for unlimited growth in carbon emissions for the next 17 years. After the passage of those 17 years all we would have to show then is establishment of his “goal” to halt the rate of growth of those emissions. Nothing he proposed has any tangible or even measurable affect on halting carbon emissions. So it was nothing but a show. The international community recognized it. Leading climate scientists recognized it. The ridicule of his proposal was virtually unanimous in the world and the scientific community.

well seeing as how the UN has lifted a certain amount of urgency on warming and that there 1,900 scientists that dispute the man made aspect and that the polar bears are thriving from a low of 5,000 to 25,000 since 1980 it seems to me that warming is a moot point it is not CO 2 that is causeing the warming so we will be throwing money at something that does not exist. I think that the president is trying his best to stave off the green people so when the truth comes out it won’t hurt so bad on the costs. Warming island has always been an island it was mappped fifty years ago it is just another hoax that is perputrated by the green people . I am for clean air we have clened that up by 87% since the 80’s . so what else do we need to do ?
