Maybe this time around the levy campaigners can display all the facts. When the Construction Levy was passed a couple years ago, there was no mention or worry about OPERATING the new buildings. It was obvious to me the campaigners were only interested in getting lavish new facilities built and then go back to the already overburdened taxpayer at a later date with another bill. Be honest, let the ones footing the bills know all the associated costs with passage of the levy. When this levy fails, try again, but stipulate that all Teachers’ and Administrators’ salaries and benefits will be frozen until the taxpayers vote specifically to increase them. Why do parochial school teachers make far less than Little Miami teachers, yet have far greater results? More money for the school really means increasing payroll and benefits first. Stop saying the revenue is for the children when all they really get is the same watered down education that allows most to pass the State minimum tests, but in no way prepares them for the real world.

When the levy passed for the buildings in 2006 it was stated that the school would need an operating levy in 2009. KNOW the FACTS

The teachers and administrators were mad when we saw what they made for only 9 months of work in the paper. Then there is time off for the holidays, spring break, and in service days. Just how many secretaries and administrators does a school need to operate? Yeah they say this is an operation levy. Try to cut some of the non teaching jobs and go from there. I bet they could save a lot of money. No, it is easier to steel from the property owners by making a new tax. What happens when people loose their homes? Some say by voting “NO” it is a vote against children. Some people voting no are trying to keep their children in a home, or keep money in the household to feed the family or heat the home. Some are voting no because they lost a job and cannot afford the tax. People against the tax should have a “NO VOTE CAMPAIGN”. This would not get the press coverage as the vote yes campaign. Did “know the facts” see what those school administrators and teachers make? That person is most likely a teacher or an administrator out to steel more of our tax money. Cutting bus service is so sad and selfish. Those people are not for the children but just for themselves. They do this in hopes to anger us into voting yes. So sad. I am voting no so people can keep their homes. Greg Jackson

By Junk Mail Has Started

I see where they have started to mail junk mail out for this levy. It is too bad people that don’t want the levy can afford to do the same and plead their cases as to why we should not pass a levy. In this junk mail I received today about passing the levy, it tells how my property value will “go down” if the levy fails (WHICH A LOT OF US DO HOPE IT FAILS). I don’t want to sell my house. By voting “NO”, I will save about $1,200 a year. It makes no since that having a costly and useless property tax would make my property worth more. If I were to sell it, having such a high tax would keep somebody from buying my house. I feel sorry for some that would loose their house should they pass this. I wonder if the people paying to mail this stuff out would feel guilty if they help a family loose their home? I once asked a lady running for the school board that was running for re-election if she felt guilty about this (PEOPLE LOOSING THEIR HOMES DUE TO HIGH TAXES). She came to my house campaigning for the school board. It was all she could do to get out of answer my question. She never did. Thank goodness she lost.

I had to write to address the two previous posts speaking out against the levy. It’s pretty obvious that the two of you did not take school seriously and probably did not do very well. I mean you both used the word loose incorrectly. There is only one ‘o’ not two, it means something totally different. Also, Mr. Jackson you twice used the word steel like the metal and I believe you were looking for the word ‘steal’. Maybe if you had a good education or valued education you would have a good enough job that you could afford this new levy. I am 24 years old and have graduated college, own a home and can afford this levy. Yes, I’d rather be able to spend some of that tax money on home improvements, but I know how valuable education is!

Good old LM Grad. She Sounds like a teacher I once had in college. She was always telling people how to speak and how to say it. Mother must be proud????? Maybe Mr. Jackson’s mom and dad didn’t go in for that “fancy book learning.” Or maybe he lost his job at A.K. “Steel” and cannot afford a BIG new tax. But enough of that. It doesn’t take a real smart person to see that this tax will hurt a lot of people.

The lack of the tax will hurt more people, it will hurt the entire community. We need a community that values education, period.

The tax will HURT a lot more people then help, period! The only ones the tax will help are the over paid staff at the schools. (CHECK AND SEE WHAT THEY MAKE) There needs to be a law that says that all students from K-12 that live more then 2 miles from schools get to ride the bus. By doing this, the school administrators cannot hold over our heads “GIVE US THE MONEY OR WE WILL CUT THE BUSING” Why do some people think that having high taxes makes the community better and gives it more of a value in education?

The campaign does not work. I guess Little Miami swings a different way , if it doesn’t work don’t fix it. The average home in the district would have to pay an ADDITIONAL $576 per year ($1728 over three years). Let’s not forget that once they get the additional tax added, they will probably not take it off. If that is the cost of a cup of coffee per day, I don’t want to buy coffee where they do. Maybe they should try and attract some business’ to increase tax revenue instead of over taxing the people that live here. If people thought that homes were hard to sell now, wait till they tell the potential buyer that their taxes are close to $4000 a year. That will start to get houses moving again, NOT. VOTE NO on the Levy

I opened my mail box today and saw were more junk mail came in the way of wanting this tax levy to pass. Saying the children will pay the price if the levy fails. What about the children in homes that can’t afford the levy? I guess they become homeless. Art, music, drama will not help these children in real life. (Drama will, if they want to play on people’s sympathy about getting a levy passed). I thought this levy was about an operation levy. Now they are talking about 34 teacher’s jobs being “eliminated”. What is the real story? The school is like a big business. They want to make as much money as they can. I am voting no so I can keep my money in my pocket and keep my home. This is not me being anti-child. This is me telling the big business of schools do your job with the money the state of Ohio gives you.
