Learning never stops

I like sports, so when I saw this blog about a 73-year-old man “playing” college basketball, I was intrigued. It turns out, the man, who is enrolled in classes at Roane State College and a member of their basketball team, failed a Spanish class and made in ineligible. He is attempting to play because he was kicked off his college team in 1956. The blogger pokes fun at Mink’s situation, and the plight of so many student-athletes who do not take their studies seriously. In reality, though, the lesson is, regardless of age, there still needs to be an emphasis on the “student” in student-athlete. Without making the grades, the sports will be taken away. And those sports will likely not last beyond high school for the overwhelming majority of students.
