Little Miami to vote on levy option

The Little Miami school board meets at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, to decide which of the three levy options they want to place on the May ballot. Each levy would last for three years. Regardless of which levy the board picks, the district will still face substantial budget cuts. Option 1: A levy that will collect 9.95 mills each year. This would still result in $2.1 million in budget cuts. Option 2: A levy that will collect 10.95 mills each year, and result in $1.5 million in budget cuts. Option 3: An incremental levy that would collect 9.95 mills in the first year, 10.95 the second year, and 11.95 the third year. This result in $1.75 million in cuts. If the district fails to pass a levy, they will need to reduce their budget by $5 million before the start of the 2009-2010 school year in June. The board meets in the high school media center.
