A new face for an old favorite
I had a chance to stop by a favorite old haunt a few days ago, and was very pleased to see they’ve updated the decor at the place and brightened everything up!
Of course, I’m talking about the good ol’ Moraine Embassy on Ludlow Street in downtown Dayton. I don’t get there as much as I used to when our paper’s offices were right next door, but I do miss the place and happen back when I’m able… Till think their cheeseburger is one of the best in town, and the daily specials are always good. It’s a fun joint, and they’re always good to their customers and happy to see you.
The old decor has been replaced with a bright new paint scheme that really livens the place up, courtesy of new building ownership which is improving the entire tower in which the Embassy takes up the ground floor. There are photos on the walls of Greek islands and scenes, recalling the background of the restaurant’s owners, and the whole place looks swell.
I was glad I stopped back to see the old crew.
And for all you Starbucks junkies out there, I was reminded yet again by my visit that the best coffee you can buy comes served in a shallow white cup on an actual saucer, refilled as quickly as you put it down by a waitress that calls you “Hon.”
See ya downtown…

I LOVE the Moraine Embassy! And the brothers are great! If you haven’t tried it, you should go! As Ron Rollins stated ‘It’s a fun joint, and they’re always good to their customers and happy to see you’.
