Hot dogs: Best as a summer food?

Just getting back from Hal McCoy Night at Great American Ball Park, held tonight, Sept. 16, to honor McCoy for his 37 years covering the Cincinnati Reds for the Dayton Daily News.

One of the best parts about getting to the park? Hot dogs.

Can’t go to a game without having one, of course. (Or, in the case of tonight’s festivities, two.)

But, something didn’t quite feel right. It was a baseball game and everything, and the weather was sunny and warm. But it’s September, ya know?

The question: Are hots dogs better in the summer, or are they good no matter what time of year?

Maybe it just doesn’t seem right in the winter, when you couldn’t also conceivably be grilling them as well as buying them at a concession stand.

Whatever the answer, my stomach was happy to accept a a few tonight.

Because most people grill out in the summer and hot dogs and hamburgers ARE the most popular choice hot dogs are considered “summer food.” My question is why are hot dogs at baseball games SO MUCH better than the ones I grill?
