Mexican hot dogs? Si, si…
For some reason — maybe the fact that the Times and NPR constantly rip off each others’ stories — Mexican hot dogs are suddenly getting a lot of attention in the mainstream US press…
Not a bad thing, either, judging from this story about the things. They sound amazing — so good that you have to wonder, Why didn’t we think of this before?
Anybody know a place around here to get one? Maybe Taqueria Mixteca or one of my favorite Mexican food joints in Dayton will start putting these on the menu… Haven’t been to one of them in a while; maybe they’ve started already?
I feel a lunch visit comin’ on….

Mexican?!? A dog stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon is more German than Mexican. I’ve been eating them that way since i was a kid. The Germans in Pennsylvania deep fry them. Must be some Germans in Mexico.By Sheryl Cowers

Interesting. Kind of a funkified swanky franky, which is a hot dog, bacon and cheese. Where are hot dogs expensive enough to break one’s wallet? That’s about as cheap as restaurant fare gets.By Nick

They sell Spanish Dogs at the Root Beer Stand in Piqua. They are not quite a coney dog, but similar. Not sure if it is the same thing though.By rabbit29

Oh No! Please don’t tell me they didn’t start making mexican hot dogs right after Taco Bell lost their puppy spokesperson. Its kind of eerie to hear about this new item since the taco bell story, but truthfully,if catches on, I hope they will be served in all mexican places, including Taco Bell so everyone can try them without breaking their wallets.By VAA
