Districts to report illnesses

I am paranoid about the flu. Parents who call me are paranoid about the flu.

So, in the spirit of reporting all I can, here is a story about how districts will be tracking absences due to illness. Still no word on the vaccines and school clinics, but stay tuned.

Lakota sent out this message today:

Lakota will be partnering with the Butler County Health Department to offer clinics to our children for the H1N1 vaccination.  At this point we have been advised of the following information by the BCHD: 1.        They do not know when the vaccine will be available, but we are asked to be logistically ready 2.       They anticipate doing the first clinic for Pre-K through 6th graders in the evenings at the two high schools.  There is enough parking/egress etc. and this way parents can bring their children if they wish for them to receive the vaccine.  Some children may need a booster 4 weeks later, which will also be provided in the same manner 3.       The second round of clinics for Lakota will be in the Jr. and High Schools during the school-day. 4.       The BCHD will provide schools with a packet of information on the vaccinations - this information will be sent home with all students as we receive it.  Only children who have signed consent forms will receive the vaccination.  Parents are asked to use an online site to register for the vaccine and give an electronic signature. 5.       There will be no charge for the vaccination - the BCHD has received a grant to supply it to the community 6.       There will be a third clinic after the initial two that includes the entire community.  This will also be held at the high school. 7.       If you have questions regarding the clinics or the vaccination, please contact the Health Department
