Hopewel to get new bleachers
Business Manager Chris Passarge presented a report to the board to replace the gym bleachers at Hopewell Elementary. He gained approval to advertise the bid Monday, July 13.
The bleachers, which are original to the building, are used consistently throughout the year, he said. They are in fair condition, but do not meet the new requirements outlined by Jarod’s Law. Modifications to the bleachers would reduce seating capacity and might not fully meet the law requirements.
The gym capacity will remain the same or slightly increase with the new bleachers and will comply with the law, he said. The cost is about $75,000.
