Kay Rogers for school board?
There are three spots open for the Lakota school board. So far, petitions have been pulled by Ray Murray, Joan Powell, Ben Dibble and Jamie Green.
Last night, we learned that Kay Rogers pulled a petition. This is quite possibly the first time (at least in my recollection) that a former public office holder, who has admitted to a felony, has pulled a petition with a possible intent to run for the Lakota Local School board.
Rogers pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati in January 2008 to bank fraud. Rogers admitted to falsely representing to National City Bank that Dynus Corp. President James Smith was authorized to do business with the county and permitted to secure a $4 million loan in the county’s name.
She resigned from public office in March 2008, but is awaiting sentencing. The legalities of her running for office with a felony pending is yet unclear, but our reporters are working on the issue.
