What happens to Union?
It’s a question we’ve all been asking since the announcement that Union Elementary staff and students would move next school year to the new location on Lesourdsville West Chester Road. What will happen to the vacant building?
The board will hear a presentation Monday that will include a plan from Business Manager Chris Passarge. I will be writing a story on the plans, but here is the gist: The board will least the building to the Butler County Educational Service Center for $1 a year plus maintenance/upkeep and utilities. The center will use it for The district would retain office space for a centralized registration location — a new program that will be initiated within the next year or two — and district storage if needed. The lease is three years with the option to extend for an additional three years. There also is an option to purchase the building through a first right of refusal if the district decides to sell at a later date.
What are your thoughts? Do you like the plan?
