Free money!

OK, so nothing is free, but this is pretty darn close. Atrium Medical Center has offered Lakota a large chunk of cash for a 20-year agreement of marketing rights at the two stadiums. The district wants your thoughts on the matter. It should have a survey posted on its site later today.

We have a comment section on this story, and so far there have been negative comments from the people of Middletown. However, I would love to hear what the Lakota people think. As a resident of the district, I would be thrilled to see turf installed and the drainage issue fixed with no extra tax money. How about you? What do you think of corporate sponsorship in school districts? Coke and Pepsi have done it in years past, and there was some backlash for the health issues of students drinking more soft drinks. However, this is a medical center. They aren’t getting any complaints from me.

In other business at the meeting, the board addressed the teachers present from the union. You can read about it in my story as well. In my opinion, I think it sounds like an agreement will be reached soon. The board sounded quite confident of it. I know that teachers expressed frustration at the pace of things. What do you think?

Here is a link to last night’s board story. href=”http://www.pulsejournal.com/hp/content/oh/story/news/local/2008/10/14/hjn101408lakboe.html”>http://www.pulsejournal.com/hp/content/oh/story/news/local/2008/10/14/hjn101408lakboe.html
