Guy Fogle new Trotwood-Madison athletic director
Former area sports TV personality Guy Fogle has been hired as the new athletic director at Trotwood-Madison High School.
Folge will replace Jim Ladd, who will retire at the end of the current school year. According to high school principal Terry Logan, the Trotwood board of education approved Fogle’s hiring on May 19.
Fogle, 49, most recently has been the executive director of the Western Ohio Television Consortium, Piqua’s main cable access channel.
Fogle has worked in various positions at WKEF, WDTN and WHIO, mainly in sports. He also unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination to the party’s candidate for Congress, 3rd District, last year against incumbent Republican Mike Turner.
In an interview with the DDN prior to that vote, Fogle said that bouts of cancer had drained him financially and led to bankruptcy. He also said that he was without health insurance and had lived out of his car for a short period.
All of that, he said, helped him understand peoples’ struggle with the downward economy and in part made him a good candidate choice.
“I don’t think Mike Turner gets the point that 90 percent of the people are two paychecks away from the same fate,” Fogle said at the time.
He also has been a school teacher and head boys basketball coach.
That’s the first of two high-profile positions to be filled at the school. The boys varsity basketball job remains open following the resignation of Mark Baker this spring.
