Centerville offensive lineman commits to Michigan State
Benny McGowan, a 6-foot-4, 300-pound junior offensive lineman at Centerville High School, committed to Michigan State today during a weekend visit to the campus to attend the team’s spring game.
McGowan said he enjoyed the visit that included meetings with coaches, a tour of the campus, watching a few team meetings and attending the spring game.
“I love the feel of the place,” he said. “The coaches were great, and it was best set-up of any visit I’ve been on.”
McGowan also had scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Iowa and UCLA, among others. He said he wasn’t planning on making a commitment this weekend, but the visit helped him decide.
“I really didn’t know, but when I was here, it just felt right to me,” he said. “I felt like I might as well do it while I’m here.”

Is the DDN ever going to do anything on Troy’s Marcus Foster committing to UC? You couldn’t wait to publish news about the Northmont kid going to Michigan before he was ready … now you can’t seem to bother with a story about a Troy kid going to a BCS school. He committed over a week ago!
