Fort Loramie 72, Shadyside 28; final
COLUMBUS - Fort Loramie defeated Shadyside 72-28 in their girls high school basketball Division IV state semifinal Thursday at OSU’s Schottenstein Center.
The Redskins (22-5) will play the Delphos Jefferson/Canal Winchester Harvest Prep winner in Saturday’s 2 p.m. championship game.
Carroll 47, Clyde: 43: Carroll defeated previously unbeaten Clyde 47-43 in a D-II semifinal earlier Thursday.
Kelley Austria scored 19 points and converted 9 of 10 free throws as the Patriots won their D-II semifinal. Ciara Triplett added 10 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks for Carroll (23-4).
Freshman Amanda Cahill led Clyde (25-1) with 15 points. Kaylea Griffin added 15 rebounds.
It was the second of four semi’s on the opening day of the state tournament, two games each in Divisions II and IV. On Friday, four more semi’s will be played, featuring D-I and D-III. All four finals are Saturday.
Shaker Hts. Hathaway Brown 53, Cambridge 36: Vanessa Smith tallied 12 points and Tanisha Lawyer 11 in leading the two-time defending state champions in the “Final 4” opener on Thursday.
This marks the fifth straight state tourney for the Blazers (17-9), who benefited from a staggering 15 steals. Hathaway Brown also was state runners-up in 2007 and ‘08.
Molly Ritz led Cambridge (22-5) with 12 points.
Carroll and Hathaway Brown will play in Saturday’s 10:45 a.m. final.
