Football playoff pairings … we think
Here’s who we think are in … and out … of next week’s football playoffs. These are not official pairings.
These pairings could be affected by the results of Saturday games.
Also, in D-I, Region 4, St. Xavier (7th), Wayne (8th) and Elder (9th) positions are based on Indianapolis Cathedral winning by forfeit over East St. Louis. That affects St. X, which beat Cathedral.
First-round pairings will be released Sunday by the OHSAA. Make certain to check out HS Huddle for the official results. Seeds are in parenthesis.

Teams that are 5-5 should not be in the playoffs. Period.

With Elder’s & Springfield’s wins put Wayne at #8. That would make them against Middletown next week.

in div 3 region 12 spr. shawnee is the one seed and they will host the number 8 seed washington court house

XXX, if you did your research, you’d know that Minster is in the playoffs at 5-5 and that in their region of 32 teams, only 7 had a record of better than 5-5 because they all play bigger division schools. Do you want to keep the small school out of the playoffs just because they play tough bigger schools?

DYOR. Same goes for Elder. The teams they beat this year were all Major players. LaSalle at 9-1. The Chicago team they beat last week was State Champ in ILL and unbeaten for 3 years. Winton Woods was Div 2 State Champ last year and only lost to Elder in game one. So why should they not being the play off with a 4-5 record. They won the Harbin Points. Toughest schedule of most that are in the playoffs. I mean WHO did Wayne or Middletown play outside Ohio teams, Or C-Ville. Stack Elders games against the rest and see if they played USAToday Top 25 or even Top 100 teams. Elder does each year. To be best you got to play the best from around the USA, not just in the Cincy Dayton area.

@ RM Miamisburg ~ Wayne plays an out of state team every year. And what’s wrong with playing Moeller and Canton McKinley. They were without one of the top players in the country for 3 games early on. The Middies better expect some serious competition!

I think Centerville might have a chance of winning a playoff game this year. They are a very good Dayton team but when it comes to playing with the Cinti teams they just don’t have the personnel and the play calling. Moeller is good this year and this is the only Cinti school Centerville might have a chance against. If Centerville played Colerain/Lasalle/StX they would get beat pretty easily.

I seem to remember watching a game of C-ville vs. Wayne on ESPN and seeing C-ville getting its rearend handed to them. BTW, that whole game was a complete bore compared to other schools across the country. If those two are the best Ohio has, boy is the football here in trouble.
