Jefferson beats Fort Loramie in D-IV boys regional semifinal

KETTERING — Joby Jackson scored 16 points and center Adreian Payne got a key steal and two free throws in the final 34 seconds to help the Jefferson High School boys basketball team beat Fort Loramie 50-45 in a Division IV regional semifinal on Tuesday, March 16, at Trent Arena.

Payne, a 6-foot-10 Michigan State recruit, finished with 12 points, while Fort Loramie’s Mark Frilling led the Redskins with 21.

Jefferson will play Fort Recovery in the D-IV regional title game at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Trent Arena.

The game was tied four times in the fourth quarter, but Jefferson trailed for only the first eight seconds of the quarter before Jackson got a basket to put the Broncos up 36-34 with 7:52 left.

Fort Loramie had possession with 1:30 left after Frilling made a free throw to cut the lead to 46-45, but the Redskins couldn’t convert on several 3-pointers, and Payne’s two free throws with 6.8 seconds left help to seal it.

HOpefully the refs actually call fouls on Payne in this game…If they do..it’s gonna be a very close game between a bunch of street ballers and a disciplined Ft. Recovery team.

If you didn’t know better you would have thought Frilling was the one going on to MSU. Also, I guess being a 6’10” MSU recruit gives you some kind of immunity to fouling out? The refs were very inconsistent and gave Payne free roam to do what he wanted.

Street ballers or athletes? Regardless of opinions these guys know how to play the game and they have kids going to the next level (Division I). How about Ft. Rec…..?

First off, fort loramie played a Good Game and Frilling had a hell of a Game, kudos to their coaching staff… They tripled teamed A.P all night ON A BUM SHOULDER, and jefferson still won..Lehamn Catholic tried to bully Jefferson and look where that got them (at home).. Look at Jefferson’s tournament and regular season schedule… They are well coached and reputable Young MEN.. Please don’t mistake their game for street ball it’s HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL at its finest!!!!!!!

It sounds like basketball players vs. racist hillbillies. Let kids play the game. If the refs called the game loose or tight. It is still on the kids to perform. You see black team people assume street ballers.

Jefferson is a great high school basketball team and much more than just Payne. Other players can definitely step it up and play. They have a great chance of winning it all, especially when an officiating crew allows Payne 10 fouls in a contest and free reign like they did in their last game.

You guys need to stop i have never seen a game where a team only had 1 or 2 personal fouls n the first half! The game didnt start getting called both ways until late! so let the boys play and u will continue to see how great Jefferson is!GO BRONCOS!!!

lol, you people are silly, i know your so used to the world revolving around you “lighter skin” but the game was 5 people vs. 8 listen if you were at the game you would see that the first three qrts. were not called fair. anytime the opponents fans says “that was a bad call” then you know it was bad. Street ball or not Ft. recovery lost. in mist of all the bad calls jt still pulled it out, your team lost so dont be mad go home to you $200,000 dollar homes.. wait and buy a ticket to come see us in the finals with your father that pays you no attention...and dont forget the oxy`s …
