Wayne’s Miller improving, could play Friday
HUBER HEIGHTS — Braxton Miller, the Wayne High School star junior quarterback who has missed two games with a thigh bruise, practiced on Wednesday, Oct. 7, and is significantly improving, coach Jay Minton said.
“I don’t know that he’s 100 percent, but he participated in some scrimmage yesterday,” Minton said. “It’s what he can tolerate now. The injury is not totally cleared up but it’s getting there.
“He looks good, a lot better than he did this time last week.”
Miller suffered the injury against Trotwood-Madison in Week 4, and Wayne has lost two straight without Miller, against Troy and Northmont. The Warriors travel to Fairmont on Friday.
At 3-3, Wayne is desperate for a win, but the Warriors were closer against Northmont. With freshman Javon Harrison subbing for the second game, Wayne lost 27-14 but had several offensive close calls. Two sure touchdown passes were dropped — one a long, impressive pass down the sideline and another a short toss into the end zone — and Northmont used a strong goal line stand at the 1-yard line on fourth down to prevent another possible score.
Harrison is a skilled backup. Against Northmont, he threw 45 passes, taking many snaps from the shotgun and dropping back with significant arm strength.
Minton said Miller will be evaluated today for his possible participation on Friday.
“It depends on how he recovers from yesterday, what his mindset is,” Minton said. “We’ll see what the trainer and the doctor say, but he’s definitely looking better.”

This is not what I heard is the problem with Miller. I heard he was suspended from the games for beating up on his girlfriend and the coaches are covering this issue up.

Joke - You are wrong. That is a false rumor. I repeat false rumor. Before you post something like this, why don’t you go right to the source otherwise stop trying to ruin a young kid’s life.

If Wayne QB was hurt why was he not in uniform like the week before or wear his jersey, like other injuried players? This could be a cover-up… I hope not.

If he was in problems at the school he would not have been allowed even on the field. Period

I agree with WayneFriend; I doubt Coach Minton would have even allowed Braxton on the field for either game had any of these malicious rumors been true. I also think Warrior78 makes a good point - negative rumors like this can have a lasting negative impact on a young man’s life. Let’s not rush to judgment trying to convict folks in the court of public opinion without the facts. A final thought, Wayne should have learned from last season — they have to find a way to win even with key, star players sidelined. The Freshman QB performed admirably against Northmont. Too bad his receivers couldn’t do their jobs.

people can’t admit the star QB actually did something wrong?? People talk, high school kids talk; and kids witnessed the slap heard around Wayne High School. What kind of a role model is this young man suppose to be if his role models are covering up his mistakes?

The rumor is true! The school just gave him in-school suspension instead of out of school suspension.

Joke, I am Braxton Miller uncle. You have truly crossed the line by insulting my nephew and the Miller family with such a ridiculois accusation. Braxton come from a family of christian values where integrity is foremost. I see you did’nt get the same up bringing as Braxton. The Miller family welcomes to mentor you, so that you can turnout to be a outstanding citizen as Braxton. Brxton is a class act, but its sad to say we can not say the same about you. By the way speaking of cover up, I didnt hide my real name like you did, and neither has Wayne hidden anything about Braxton!

Well Mr. Paul Miller I’m so sorry to say is that you know that this is very true, because the young lady that THE Braxton Miller slapped was indeed my niece. Im sorry that your family is very disappointed in this young man however this is very troubling for our family also. Yes, from what I heard he had somewhat of a good upbringing however sometimes kids stray away. We just have to re-direct them to stay focus and to respect young ladies. We accept his apology but our family needs time to deal with this and to forgive Braxton. Hopefully this will be a learning lesson for all involved.

Unfortunately, these accusations about him and his girlfriend are indeed true; I’m a teammate of Braxton’s, but this event didn’t occur recently, more towards the beginning of the season, and Braxton was punished for it. He has been injured the past couple weeks and couldn’t play against Troy and Northmont; this injury and his situation with his girlfriend are unrelated.
