Mignery resigns as Xenia football coach

Ed Mignery has resigned as the head football coach at Xenia High School.

“This is it for me,” he said.

Mignery’s stamp is all over area football, including the last five seasons with the Buccaneers. He compiled a 22-28 record at Xenia, but dipped to 2-8 this past season.

Mignery, 59, previously coached at Hamilton, Trotwood-Madison and Springfield Shawnee. He owns a career record of 141-121-1 following 26 years as a head football coach.

The position will be posted in-house for 10 days, then opened to the public.

Mignery also was a wrestling official for 21 years. He’s a 1967 graduate of Hamilton Badin and played football at Morehead State in Kentucky.

“My biggest disappointment in the time I’ve coached here is not getting us into the playoffs,” he said.

“I thought we were close a couple years, but didn’t quite get it done against a pretty tough schedule.”

For that person who said “Thank God” you probably said that for these reasons: (1)You were terrible as a player. (2)Your son was terrible as a player. or(3)You cant coach because of your criminal record. Pick one:)

Ed,aka the plain truth, Thanks for trying to defend yourself. Your prime passed years ago. Wish you nothing but the best in your retirement. 22-28 is not getting the job done. don’t get a case of the redass when the truth comes out. Embrace it brother it will set you free.

Ed and I know you plain truth idiot—Your one of those a**holes who never accomplished anything in your life in sports/but live through your unimpressive kid, who isn’t any better than you were! Yeah, we have seen your kind many times through the years—they have pills for what’s wrong with you! They are big—try not to choke yourself on them! Who are you going to badmouth now?

You keep talking about my kid. I don’t have any children. Could this be your child you keep talking about? You seem so bitter, so touchy. Must hurt huh, since what you keep describing is really yourself. Talking about choking, you did that a lot in games didn’t you ed?

I’ve know this coach for many years. He is a man of honor and I wish him well on his retirement. There are times when you just don’t have the talent and Xenia has missed out over the years.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for my former coach at Totwood. He helped any player that was faithful and hard working. “plain truth” obviuosly wasn’t one of them.
