Local students honored by Butler Tech
Several area students have earned awards and recognition at Butler Tech:
> At the Greater Cincinnati Tech Prep Graduate Salute, Ross information technologies student Elier Lara earned a $250 Duke Energy Award.
> New inductees into the National Technical Honor Society included Ross students Brogen Denny, criminal justice; Katherine Hoebbel, cosmetology; Mariah Mapes, early childhood education; Paul Timmerman, automotive technology; and Megan Walker, cosmetology, along with New Miami student Courtney Anglin, criminal justice.
> Hamilton culinary arts student Trey Hill won a silver rating at the FCCLA State Skill Events held at Hocking College and Columbus.
> Mariah Mapes, early childhood education, won a gold medal and was a national qualifier at the FCCLA State Competition in the Chapter Showcase Manual category.
> Business office education student Sierra Barnett, New Miami, received the National Business Professional of America Torch Award, the BPA’s highest level of achievement. The purpose of the Torch Awards Program is to recognize members for their dedication to BPA and their community. BPA offers seven categories of Torch Awards that exemplify the nine torches: leadership, cooperation, service, knowledge, friendship, love, hope, faith, and patriotism.
