Council takes first chop at budget
In a four-hour work session Saturday morning, Council decided to cut $540,000 from the budget while taking steps to increase revenue by $341,000.
This cover sheet, complete with a photo of the mayor for some reason, outlines how much money the changes are expected to save.
The menu of options was provided to council following the release of the Decosimo report in May. The report projected a $4 million deficit in the general fund by the end of 2009. Council ranked the menu items last week. Today, they went through almost all of them. They stopped 11 items short of finishing the list because Councilman Archie Johnson had already departed for the day and Councilwoman Kathy Becker had to leave.

What do you think? Is council making the right decisions?
